Outdoor Education

Children at our school are encouraged to be curious about, and care for, the world around them.  This is reflected in our strong focus on outdoor learning.  From P1, children are encouraged to engage with the outdoors through our play trails, water run, mud kitchen and outdoor equipment.  We strongly encourage this engagement throughout all classes, with children taking part in specific lessons related to the outdoors and our wonderful surroundings. Our P7s are currently involved in a local community project that involves completing beach cleans at Crawfordsburn and Helen's Bay.

We are proud to be a NIFSA Forest School and make extensive use of the local forest park and beach, as well as our Forest School area within school. In acknowledgement of our continuing Forest School work, Mrs Warke received the Elder Award at the recent NIFSA Annual Conference.

"We are so lucky in our school that we can use the outdoors to learn.” A P6 Child.

Our school is currently working towards achieving the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award to acknowledge all environmentally friendly work taking place within our school. Our Eco-Council have created an Eco-Code for the school to follow that builds on our school vision.
